Joanne Whitehead

My approach is warm, relational, and deeply human.  As a Gestalt therapist, I work with what is present in the here and now, while also exploring how past experiences can shape current relationships and patterns of behaviour that may impact quality of life.

My work is guided by the BACP Ethical Framework, which underpins my commitment to ethical, reflective, and accountable practice. I place particular importance on trust, respect, confidentiality and supporting clients’ autonomy and wellbeing.

I see therapy as a collaborative process, where together we can explore how you relate to yourself and to others, supporting greater awareness, self-understanding, and the possibility of change.  Having been a client myself, I understand how daunting it can feel to take the first step into therapy, and I aim to offer a safe supportive, and non-judgemental space where we can work at a pace that feels right for you.

I have experience working with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, eating disorders, body image, suicidal thoughts, anger and loss.
