Sarah Moring

Hi I’m Sarah.

YOU
Are you struggling with anxiety, loneliness, low self-esteem, or with issues related to depression, bereavement, trauma, relationships, family life, fertility, work-related issues, or significant life transitions?  Perhaps you feel pulled in all directions, having to focus on others more than yourself and feel you have lost a sense of your own identity?

At times we struggle to cope with life’s challenges.  We may not feel in control as life deviates from the hopes, plans and expectations we once had.  Emotions can become overwhelming, all-consuming and exhausting.  Everyday life does not always leave room for reflection or questioning and talking to those around us can sometimes prove difficult.  Carving out a regular space for yourself to seek clarity and understanding on how you’re feeling can be a powerful step towards gaining a sense of control, implementing change and embarking on living the life you desire.

ME
My approach is a compassionate and collaborative one.  I offer a comfortable, confidential environment, free from judgement and criticism.  Through development of a trusted and supportive therapeutic relationship, we will explore what is currently troubling you.  Together we will uncover past experiences and relationships, identifying their significance and emotional impact on present-day living.  This exploration will provide a deeper understanding of the way you relate to others, the choices you make and your repeated patterns of behaviour.

I am a fully qualified, registered and professional Psychodynamic Counsellor.  The relationship between client and counsellor is an important and pivotal aspect of Psychodynamic Counselling.  Experiencing the way we relate to others in the immediate presence of the here-and-now can be instrumental in facilitating self-awareness and enabling change in relationships going forward. It is therefore important that you feel comfortable working with me.

TOGETHER

First Session
An initial appointment will be offered soon after our first contact.  In this session, we will explore your reasons for counselling and the issues you wish to address.  It will provide you with an opportunity to consider whether counselling with me may be of benefit to you.  If you feel that we could work together, subsequent sessions will take place at the same regular time each week and last 50 minutes.  I offer open-ended long term therapy and short term therapy (12 weeks).

Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Postgraduate Diploma with Commendation in Contemporary Therapeutic Counselling from The University of Hertfordshire.  I am a registered member of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by the BACP’s Ethical Framework for good practice.

As well as my Private Practice, I have experience working with young people in secondary school and worked with adults at a North London Counselling Organisation for many years.  I have experience of the corporate environment, having previously worked for large Financial and Retail companies and hold a BA (Hons) degree.
