Emma Howell

Hi, my name is Emma

I am an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist offering a safe, non-judgemental space where you can explore and make sense of where you are and develop self compassion and coping strategies.  I appreciate coming to therapy for the first time can be hard however, I provide a welcoming, caring and supportive environment.

I have a Masters in integrative psychotherapy, this enables me to draw on a range of approaches tailor-made for your individual needs.  Building a strong, trusting and supportive therapeutic relationship provides a foundation for exploring what is troubling you, and for changing behavioural patterns and healing past trauma.  I work holistically, helping you to process your thoughts and feelings whilst noticing sensations and emotions in your body. Research shows that trauma can be held at a cellular level so working with breathing and the body can also help to release trauma.  We can learn to use our bodies as well as our minds to support self-discovery and growth.

I have extensive experience of working long-term in private practice and in NHS adult secondary care.  I work with anxiety, depression, bereavement, burnout, childhood trauma and relationship difficulties.  Prior to being a psychotherapist, I worked in senior corporate roles so also understand the challenges of this work environment.
