More about Jackie

Hi, my name is Jackie. I am the main CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) counsellor at Hertford Counselling Service. I am a MBACP Senior Accredited practitioner following a code of ethics and professional practice. I specialise in both short and long term work for a wide range of emotional issues at Hertford, including anxiety, relationship issues, work-place issues, depression, bereavement, trauma, addiction (drug and alcohol), abuse and eating disorders.

I am a professional integrative psychotherapist with 20 years experience in working primarily with individuals and couples experiencing relationship difficulties. Integrative psychotherapy means I have trained in many areas of psychotherapy and I can then choose to work in ways that I think are unique and personal to help you regain confidence and power in your life.

It’s a scary step to acknowledge that you need counselling and an even scarier step to pick up the phone but a small investment of your time can make a big difference to the quality of your life. My role is to enable you to discover that for yourself.

At our first consultation, we will discuss what has brought you to counselling and what you are hoping to achieve from working together. I can also answer any questions you may have and if you decide we are a good fit and would like to enter into counselling with me we can then arrange a suitable time to meet each week.

I offer you a secure confidential relationship in which we can explore the feelings and problems that are troubling you in a safe and non-judgemental space. Together we can explore habits and patterns that have hindered you where you may feel you are just existing or surviving rather than living.

I feel strongly that many of us do not live our lives authentically and are being true to ourselves, instead, we adapt to society, family and friends in order to feel accepted and to fit in. Through exploration, reflection and understanding we can free ourselves to truly live our life authentically.
